What's New in Planning Approvals
Lanark County Integrated Community Sustainability Official Plan
The County of Lanark has embarked on a mile-stone process to develop the ‘first-ever’ County Official Plan.
This plan will combine the requirements of the Planning Act, FCM Sustainability Components and local priorities to establish a supportive policy framework for encouraging ‘green’ initiatives and allowing the County to control its own destiny.
The County’s Planning Consultant is currently working on a “Cornerstone Report” through which, land use policies will be developed. This Report looks at all facets of the County (Transportation, Tourism, Economic Development, Demographics, Social Housing, Recreation & Trails, Growth and Development etc) including local municipal plans to develop a balanced Plan which coordinate and/or sets the stage for more detailed planning at the local level.
Over the next year (2011), the County will hold Public Meetings throughout the County, to present not only the report, but to receive public input. We encourage you to attend these public meetings “to make this a real CountyPlan”.
Notices for the Public Meetings will be posted on the Lanark County Web Site ‘Home’ page.
